Hate crimes course for police officers and cadets in Ryazan
In 2006-2007, over 160 cadets and 150 police officers attended a mandatory class on hate crimes at the Ryazan branch of Moscow University of the Russian Ministry of the Interior (MVD).
Those officers and cadets, who had taken this class, wrote term papers on the topics of hate crimes and hate-motivated extremism. Also, topics on hate crimes and extremism have been included in the official examination questions of the Ryazan branch of Moscow MVD University.
As a follow-up to the course, outstanding cadets were selected to be trained and to present lectures on the prevention of hate crimes and extremism to Ryazan high school students.
High school classes on counteracting extremism
Over the course of 2006-2007 school year, a select group of police cadets underwent training and then taught weekly class to high school students on tolerance and counteracting youth extremism. Hundreds of students have gone through the class. This program is now in its third year.
Tolerance course for police officers and cadets in Stavropol
In January 2007, the Stavropol RTC introduced a course on tolerance to the syllabus of the Stavropol branch of the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of the Interior. The course is currently being taught both to cadets and to active police officers as a professional advancement course. The curriculum for this course was designed and developed by the Climate of Trust's Ryazan RTC. It has also been introduced to the syllabus of the police university near St. Petersburg.
Tolerance course for police officers and cadets in St. Petersburg
The Climate of Trust introduced a course on investigating and prosecuting hate crimes for police officers and cadets at the Training Center of the Main Office of the Interior (GUVD) of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast. This mandatory course consists of twelve class hours and a two-hour exam.
Training seminars for police officers on meeting the needs of an ethnically and religiously diverse society
The Kazan RTC reached an agreement with the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Tatarstan to conduct a "Culture of Trust" series of seminars for police officers and cadets.
The seminars familiarize the police with the culture, and traditions of the prevalent religions in Tatarstan, and builds respect through understanding. Over 500 officers and 100 cadets participated.
Training course for cadets at the Elabuga Police Academy in Tatarstan
In 2006, a weekly training course "Culture of Trust" was introduced at the Police Academy in Elabuga. The goal of the course is to teach cadets to work effectively in a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional society. The course is being conducted jointly with the Ministry of the Interior of Tatarstan and the instructors of the Elabuga Police Academy.
Culture of Trust curriculum and textbook for high schools in Tatarstan
The Kazan RTC has developed a curriculum and a textbook for high schools entitled "Culture of Trust". The curriculum and textbook highlight the contributions to society of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. The Kazan RTC has conducted a series of training seminars for high school teachers, to familiarize them with the curriculum and textbook and prepare them to teach the course. Over 200 high school teachers have completed this program. This series of the seminars has been officially recognized by the Ministry of Education of Tatarstan as a certified professional advancement course.
